The club has a very active mountain bike membership who ride a wide selection of styles including cross country, endurance, enduro, downhill and dirt jump. The organised events are mainly aimed at cross country leisure and local downhill but you will find members riding and racing all over the country!
Saturday Rides
We recommend the Saturday cross country rides if you are coming out with us for the first time. Rides are approximately 3 hours in length and usually involve cycling out of Cheltenham up on to the Cotswold escarpment at the start of the ride. Rides start at 9am every Saturday through the year and have a designated ride leader who is announced on the calendar. The rides start from Central Cross Drive in Pittville Park.
Tuesday Night Rides
Officially the Tuesday evening rides run from April to October, though many members keep going all winter. Like the Saturday rides these start in Central Cross Drive at 7pm and head up onto the Cotswolds but end up at a pub. The pubs vary week to week oscillating between a local one and one a bit further out where we meet the road riders. Lengths vary depending on the weather but typically are around 2 hours.
Thursday 'The Corrective' Evening
Officially The Corrective evening runs from the first Thursday in May until the weather/ evenings stop it. We either meet at for some 'techy on Lecky' and Daisybank dirt jumps or at Bushcombe to sample the trails there. The actual venue will be published week to week depending on the weather and trail conditions. Anyone on any bike is welcome and the sessions are very relaxed.
General Information
All riders on a club ride must wear a helmet and we recommend gloves, knee pads body armour etc where appropriate. We also ask that your bike is suitable for off road riding and is well maintained and that you are suitably clothed for the weather conditions. You should also bring adequate food, water, tools and a spare tube.
We respect one another, other off road users and the environment, we do not leave people behind and we wait if someone has a "technical". We will help out if possible.
